While strolling along the heart of the ever- busy Causeway Bay, a facade that “pulls back the curtains” revealing a buzzing street-level hotel building will immediately catch your attention.Upon stepping inside, tinted glass panels in vibrant red, orange, and yellow with Chinese elements symbolizing good fortune greeted me.Undoubtedly my favorite part of the hotel. From imported European furniture to the playfully colored fabrics used all over the place, avant garde design elements truly reflect J Plus Hotel’s unconventional DNA. Located on the opposite side of the lobby is the Indulge@JPlusHK where in-house guests get to enjoy complimentary daily continental breakfast, afternoon cakes, and evening wine. To celebrate the stylish and creative roots of the hotel, a dedicated space was converted into an art area called Art@JPlusHK. With a goal of fostering the burgeoning art scene in Hong Kong and creating a space for artists to schowcase their work to travelers from all around the world, pop up art exhibitions are being showcased here month on month.Time to check out my room!I stayed in their super stylish 780 sq ft Suite for this trip. The fully equipped kitchen and the lavish working station are the first things that welcomed me upon entering the room.
Originally designed by celebrated designer Philippe Starck, the hotel underwent a renovation last 2014 when it celebrated its 10th year anniversary. “In a city so synonymous with change, this iconic address is redefined and refreshed for the future,” said Mathew Dalby, Design Director of Yoo Studio. “While staying sympathetic to the original cutting-edge design, this refreshed restyling continues our design house’s legacy or contemporary, imaginative, and sophisticated creativity to surprise and delight even the most jaded traveler.”Living room with full flat screen television + state-of-the-art home theater set.I’m super amazed on how they were able to artistically integrated both style and comfort in the interiors of the room!Love at first sight with this full-marble dining table. Isn’t it super Instagram worthy?Handwritten welcome notes are the best 🙂At the end of the open space are 2 private rooms…First is the bathroom. Yes, almost the entire room is made out of marble! How dreamy and luxurious.Next is the bedroom. Just the right space for a relaxing and comfy rest time. Another trip turned into a staycation! I mean who would blame me? The place is too pretty!A panoramic shot of the room for you to appreciate the place from another point of view. Low key industrialized multi-spotlight lighting playfully highlights notable design features throughout the lobby area.So cool of the designer to spray-paint a street art on the exterior of the building. I love how it transformed the place into a super hip architectural sight.J PLUS HOTEL BY YOO
