I normally stay in hotels whenever I travel alone but every time I go to Bangkok, I break this rule. Being one of the top destinations for backpackers, Thailand has definitely mastered the hostel game. From the tiniest capsule spaces up to the grandest and most sophisticated looking accommodations, they’ve got it all covered.Ask any frequent BKK visitors or locals for top recommendations of hostels in Bangkok and they’ll recommend The Yard, for sure. “Yard” means “relative” in Thai- and that’s exactly how you’ll feel like when you stay here as all the staff and other guests are so friendly! The hostel is situated in the quiet neighborhood of Ari, 2 stations away from the famous Chatuchak Market (Mo Chit Station). It is a little oasis for those who want to relax and get away from the busy touristy places while still being in a location where everything is convenient (hipster cafes around, BTS station being nearby, etc.)With the goal of protecting the environment and reducing human footprint, you’ll notice that The Yard Hostel is actually constructed from shipping containers and other reused materials. Another evident environmental-friendly initiative that the hostel implements is that they don’t use any plastics around. Guests get glass bottles during check-ins instead of paper cups! This is their common room where guests can gather and just hang, chit chat, and or group activities like board games and yoga! They offer 3 room types- Dorm (mixed and all-girls), Private Garden, and Private Room in their Vintage House. This is how the dorm room looks like. Clean, simple, and comfy. Choose from: 4 mix dorm room, 6 mix dorm room, 6 girls dorm room, or opt to book the whole room to yourselves if you’re traveling together in groups of 4.Then there’s the Private Garden Room. Simple, direct to the point, super cozy!It even comes with a balcony! Perfect spot to read a book or two.Last but not the least, the vintage house. The room’s spacious and big. It really feels very home-y.Good morning! This is the hostel’s “cafe by day & bar at night” spot 🙂 Yummy breakfast served to guests everyday. Finished everything in 5 minutes!!! Actually, I was in BKK for work (yup my day job work) but I flew in earlier to try out new restaurants + explore the city and I’m so glad that I discovered The Yard as it was truly the perfect place to spend a chill and relaxing weekend in.
